How the Body Works Anatomy of the Hypothalamus Connected by many nerve tracts with the brain and spinal cord, the hypothalamus acts as a link between the endocrine system and the nervous system. It functions automatically, monitoring and regulating the autonomic nervous system as well as the state of the body’s metabolism through eating, drinking, temperature control, sexual drives and “fight or flight” reactions. It also controls the menstrual cycle and is thought to contain a pleasure center. Finally, it directs hormones released by the anterior pituitary gland. The anatomy of the hypothalamus includes: The medial forebrain nerve bundle, which leads to the front area of the cerebral cortex. The fornix, a bundle of nerve fibers, which carries messages associated with memory from the limbic system. The “control centers”, which are grouped together to form the core of the hypothalamus. The mamillothalamic tract, which is involved with the synthesis of emotions. The dorsal longitudinal bundle, which carries messages concerned with digestion to the brain stem. The pituitary portal system, which carries hypothalamic hormones to the anterior pituitary gland. The infundibular stalk, which connects the pituitary gland to the brain. The neurosecretory tracts, which channel hypothalamic hormones to the posterior pituitary gland, and the hypothalamic artery, which conducts oxygenated blood to the hypothalamus. Directly below the hypothalamus lies the anterior and posterior …

What do you want the most in life? A good job? Money? Travel? A wife? Children?
But why? Because that would make you… feel good? So all your life is devoted to the obtaining of precious “reward” from your hypothalamus?
What if I opened your skull and put electrodes on it, so that you would have instant, intense, free, renewable and illimited reward and pleasure?
Would your life be fullfilled? What would be your goals? Why would you live? Is there something else in life than that?

Oswald Spengler is indeed my other self, my counsel’s consistory, my oracle, my prophet! I, like a child, will go by his direction and I shall go mad.
“… The more strongly armed power will force the weaker one to give up its economic defensive, capitulate, and disappear, Cannon are in the last resort stronger than coal. There is not telling how this economic war will end, but it is certain that it will finally restore to the State as authority its historical rights, based on voluntary, and therefore reliable, thoroughly trained, and highly mobile armies and will push back economics to the second place, where they belong.”

“… system and the means of existence for great nations; and the Dawes and Young plans, which represent the attempts of financial groups to force whole states to do forced labour for the banks. What it really amounts to is that the life of ones own nation has to be gained at the cost of destroying that of others. It is the struggle on the keel of the overturned boat. And when all other means are exhausted, then the oldest and most primitive, the military means, will come into their own again.”

“The present-day war with economic weapons (which may later be accounted a second world war) produced wholly new forms in the Bolshevik economic offensive expressed in the Five Year Plan; the attack by dollars and francs on the pound sterling; the inflations engineered by foreign exchanges which destroyed the whole contents of national exchequers; autarchy of economic systems which may be carried to the extent of wiping out exports from the opposing powers and therewith the whole economic …”

But then again: I have discovered a method to call such foul offenders to their answers; no more are these silken, sly, insinuating Jacks, who annoy me with their lewd complaints and then use the blocking function, beyond my grasp! I do really hope the words of Oswald Spengler will prove true ere long, for this post modern boredom is truly insufferable; if the State and War will not return soon, I shall go mad, but this nice little crisis of world economics should end the age of economy:

@seldomseen68: Nope. As I do lack divine inspiration, natural brilliancy and deeper insights and do not resemble warlike Jeanne or wise Themistocles Therefore I am bound to study books and learn from others to gain the knowledge and inspiration necessary to do my deeds; often, while doing so, I feel like Goethe’s Faust! But my studies and learning were not that fruitless and so I do hope to make use of the things I did learn, from Oswald Spengler, the great Cassandra of Europe, for example
